Missing Internet Security Icon in System Tray

I am running Win 7 on a 64-bit machine and lately have had to deal with my Norton Internet Security icon not showing up in and/or vanishing from the system tray. I had found an older solution here in the forum suggesting to 'Enable Boot Time Protection' in the Settings.

I enabled boot time protection (Level Normal) and upon boot-up the icon now shows. However, as soon as my system goes into power-saving mode (during a longer absence), the icon vanishes again. The only way to get it back is to manually re-open NIS via the Start button > All Programs. I have to do this several times a day now. Other "side effects" of the icon vanishing are that the ID Vault also closes and no Live Updates happen until I manually re-open the program. Especially the latter is very worrisome to me because it is unclear to me whether NIS is even running if no Live Updates take place.

Has anyone else seen this and more importantly, what do I need to do to get this back to normal?

Thanks.
