New norton version has now caused switch user button to dissappear from login screen on W7 laptop, any update going to patch it?
This sounds like a Windows problem. Norton does not affect the selection of a Windows user account.
Have you restarted your computer after the update?
Not Windows, when I uninstall Norton and turn off then boot up laptop again, it goes back to normal login with switch user button and fingerprint reader works like it’s always done.
What you describe is the Windows 7 login screen.
What Norton product and version number are you using on a Win 7 system?
And your Win 7 install does have…“Microsoft Windows 7 (all versions) with Service Pack 1 (SP 1) or later with SHA2 support.”
Norton 360, can’t remember the version but something like v.25…….
I’ve unistalled and reinstalled 360, but use task manager to go to login and switch user is there, but log off and shut down then boot up again and switch user button has gone, I’ve gone into the register and checked that a registery key is set to 0, and it is so nothing to change there.
@Mcrmoz Your issues are caused by a group policy setting that has somehow been changed. Please review the following Microsoft article: *Please ensure you check everything mentioned in the article completely, not just a single registry entry.

Thanks SoulAsylum, but I’ve tried that, my version of W7 is the home version and you can’t just search for gpedit, so found fast user switching key in registry, but it’s set to 0 for a start.
I can’t find group policy anywhere, as I think because of the home version as well, just not listed anywhere.
You are correct, I had assumed you were using Win 7 Pro.

Give this a go, tested as working with Windows 10 settings my side:
Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tool>System Configuration>Tools>Computer Management-Click “the launch button” below, on the next open screen find Services and Applications>Services>Secondary Logon Then click Start.
Reboot and recheck.

I think I’ve solved my problem with a uninstall and reinstall, laptop was left 3 days and turned on earlier today and switch user button is back on login screen, and finger reader works as well, it didn’t appear as quick as it’s done in the past, but I think that was to do with a defrag that is on a schedule starting right away at boot up. Thanks for all the help, I’ll just see next time I use the laptop just to check it’s ok.
Thanks for the post-back.
