Missing time set for tamper protection

In miscellaneous settings, when turning tamper protection off (to do a system restore), there used to be a pop-up message asking for how long it should stay disabled.  After doing a system restore to a point earlier today, the option to choose how long tamper protection should stay off is no longer showing up.  Is there any way to get it back?

Hi Lena3,

You might want to "cycle through" turning Tamper Protection Off, then clicking Apply > OK > exiting the Norton interface and rebooting.

Repeat the same procedure turning Tamper Protection On. Then check to see if the pop up returns when you attempt to turn it Off again.

If that does not work, you could try Help & Support > One Click Support to run the automated scan of your product.

Also, it is advisable after performing a System Restore to "Run Live Update" to be sure your definitions are current.

Please keep us advised.

Hi Lena3,

The problem with Tamper Protection may be due to the lack of the virus definition files and updates. When you performed a system restore, all those updates and virus definitions of Norton program till date are removed. You can first try to run the LiveUpdate from the Norton 2009 product repeatedly until you see the message "No more updates..." and then restart the computer. If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall/reinstall your Norton product.

You may need to uninstall the Norton 2009 product using the Norton removal tool and install the latest version.

1. Download the installation file from the any one of these links according to the Norton 2009 you have (Norton AntiVirus 2009 or Norton Internet Security 2009). Don't install it now.

2. Go to this LINK and follow the instructions for uninstall. Run Norton removal tool multiple times(2-3 times) to make sure that all components are completely uninstalled.

3. You can install Norton 2009 program and activate it using the same product key from your Norton Account. Run LiveUpdate repeatedly until you see the message that no more updates are available.

Let us know the results.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions Phil and Yogesh.

After running live update and restarting the computer, the issue is resolved.  Apologies for hastily posting the original question before trying to update/restart/etc, I paniced a bit that the system restore somehow corrupted Norton.

Alll seems well, thanks again!

I'm glad all turned out well for you!
