Monitor Rules

While trying to turn off  "pop up blocker" so I could watch some tv shows on a web site. I was looking through Norton (still no idea how to turn them off) I could not find anything. Since then I have been getting this window in the lower right hand corner "A monitor rule was detected for internet explorer " It just sits there and blinks. What is it and how do I turn it off.. Thanks

Hi trashman,

Did you make manual changes to some of your firewall rules, specifically to the Automatic Program Control rule for Internet Explorer?  It sounds like you configured the firewall to notify you when a specific rule is triggered.  Use the Firewall reset option in Firewall Advanced Settings to revert all of the firewall rules to their defaults.

The pop up blocker is in your browser. The little notes in the lower right corner are from Norton. After you reset your firewall rules, if you are still having problems, return and we can start working on them one at a time.:smileywink:

Hi I did the manual reset, even restarted my computer. But it is still there, It keeps blinking, now and then

Are you saying that you're still seeing

"A monitor rule was detected for internet explorer "

message?

Thanks

yes

trashman,

And this is after you have reset your firewall rules to 'default' and rebooted? I'm almost ready to suggest that you use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool found here:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20110217171332EN

And see if that will resolve the problem.

ya that is what I was thinking. i will let you know.. thanks

Hm.  I don't think I've ever seen a blinking Norton alert.  Could you post a screenshot (instructions here)?

I also have this problem
