Mozilla postpones Firefox 49 release

Mozilla postpones Firefox 49 release.    The next stable version of the web browser, by a week to fix two so-called blocker bugs. for more info go here  http://www.ghacks.net/2016/09/09/mozilla-postpones-firefox-49-release/

We investigated this and a fix will be issued in the next Firefox release on Tuesday, September 20.
Until Mozilla releases the update, Firefox users who are concerned they might be targeted by nation-sponsored adversaries should consider using a different browser or, alternately, configuring Firefox to stop automatically accepting extension updates.

Krusty13:  bjm,  What I mean is that FF50 is scheduled for release November 8, 2016 but according to the linked article they are already planning FF50.0.1.  Why not wait the few weeks and release FF50 with known bugs resolved?

Firefox like Norton-as-a-Service releases updates as required, as available.

Hi Krusty13:

From the February 2016 PCWorld article Mozilla moves Firefox to a more flexible release schedule:

"In December, Mozilla plans to follow Firefox 50—which has a Nov. 8 launch date— with Firefox 50.0.1 after a five-week gap, but only if necessary to deliver critical security fixes. Mozilla usually times its security updates with a regularly scheduled release."

Firefox 51 isn't scheduled for release until 24-Jan-2017 and it sounds like Mozilla is concerned that the planned 11-week gap between v50 and v51 might be too long if there are any critical security fixes ready for release.

Krusty, we're all unwilling  {and in most cases, unpaid} beta testers for Mozilla, Microsoft,Symantec and any other major software company you care to name !

Krusty13:  I wish they would hold off all releases until they are stable.

Have you received Firefox update that broke Firefox.
I wish Norton would hold off product updates until they're stable

e.g., A Norton product HOTFIX has been released via LiveUpdate to fix ___________.

I wish they would hold off all releases until they are stable.  That article says "If things go well, Firefox 49 will be released on September 20, 2016. The postponing of the release will have no impact on the release of Firefox 50 which is still scheduled for November 8, 2016. Firefox 50 will be the last feature release of 2016. Mozilla does plan to release Firefox 50.0.1 however on December 13, 2016.".

Why Mozilla, why?!
