I use NIS 22.5.2.15. I have Vista. Last night, I ran a full scan and when I come home several hours later, I found that MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer and Power Point all won't work.
Earlier in the day, I had no problem using MS Word (Home and student 2007 version). I did install a new version of Itunes about an hour after I opened Word for the last time, and then I did the NIS Scan. The reason why I think Norton may have caused the problem is that while I was out, NIS history shows several references to the Optimer running, encountering an error and then cancelling. It happened three or four times.
When I try to launch Word, I get a message saying that it has encountered a problem and won't open. The same for Adobe Acrobat, and also Powerpoint and Internet Explorer. I never use Powerpoint, so that doesn't bother me much, and I rarely use IE (I use Firefox instead). Not being able to open Word and Adobe Reader is a big problem, though.
I have tried to use System Restore, trying three different restore points, and each attempt has failed. I get a message saying that an error has occurred and I should try a different restore point.
MS Office diagnostics says nothing is wrong with the program. I tried repairing my MS Word installation anyway, and that didn't work. I uninstalled Office and then re-installed it, and that didn't work.
I also removed Itunes, and then problem still persists.
Has anyone had a problem like this?
