First, I have dial-up which is half of any problems, I know.
I am helping to set up a brand new Gateway machine with NIS 2011 pre-installed. It has a 60 activation. I do have a disk which will allow 6 months (best buy offer) but I am not sure what version that is.
I attempted to run LiveUpdate (180 days old) and it fails on Virus definitions X64 and Iron Whitehorse. Please note, every time I try this, it takes over 10 hours.
I click on Tech Support and a "One Click Support" screen comes up, but tells me it can't communicate with the server and asks me if I want to release and reset IP addresses. I say yes, and after 4-5 minutes, it gives me the same error.
I realize I can download intelligent updates and get the virus definitions to install manually. Does this cover the Iron Whitehorse also?
Is there something I can download (from a faster connection) and copy to my machine to update my NIS if that is the problem? And if that is the problem, how can I find that out?
Sorry, I can't (from this computer) tell you the exact version that is running.
Any help would be appreciated. Please give me the most direct methods, since downloading is a pain no matter what. I can do it offsite and bring it back, but that takes me 45 minutes of travel time alone. I'd prefer to get everything I need at one time if possible.
