My Email Account Has Been Hacked

Several of my contacts told me that they have received messages (supposedly from me) that lead them to believe that my account has been hacked.

What should I do?

I run Sierra MacOS v13.

Over last 3 days (after virus alert). Computer v. slow and lost email connection AOL and all inbox. Advised to quit and rebuild.

Ran Norton 360 and cleaned with no effect. Do I require an additional virus scan?

Hello Pixie. Contact your email provider firstly. Ask them to help you reset your login credentials and password as well as 2 factor authentication when someone tries logging into your account.
