My hard drive crashed and I reinstalled Norton 360 from downloading. Did that use my last install or is it smart enough to know the computer even with a totally new hard drive?
Hi, garyz,
The bad news is yes, that will have used another install. The GOOD news is if you contact the helpful folks of Norton’s Live Chat customer supprt staff, they will get it back for you in a jiffy!
Welcome to our community!
If you used the Download button from within your MyNortonAccount then it should not use up an activation and should install already activated and uptodate .... but it's good to run LiveUpdate manually a few times with a restart inbetween just to get any recent fixes and updates.
To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.
Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.
Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.
Please let us know how you get on ....
Thanks I will do that
From past experience, a hard drive shouldn't make any difference. The identity of a machine is not in the drives. A change of motherboard will use up an installation. Once installed, try clicking on support>check subscription staus. Then check your account to check the number of activations left.
