My NIS is about to expire how do I renew, I have a code ready, without losing the remaining days?

Have NIS and it is about to run out. I have a copy with a new code but don’t want to lose the remianing days, I made that mistake last time. Is it just a case of waiting until the last day or can I email someone to get the days added?
