My Norton shows "Installation Failed" for Secure Browser

I am not saying that Norton said anything to you.  If you read the thread this is the second time around for me with this error.  I was directed by Norton support to "fix it" was uninstalling Norton *plus all of its features ... secure browser being one) and reinstall it.  I get that sort of "fix" and do not agree that it's a "fix".  We need an explanation from Norton support / engineering as to why this happens and hopefully an actual fix.  My suspicion is that secure browser is trying to update itself automatically and that process is failing for some reason.  But clearly that is just conjecture on my part.

Anyway, thank you for pointing out the other thread.  I did see it already but decided to open this one so Norton support/engineering knows that the problem is still going on and clearly more than one user has seen it occur.

That posts does not help me.  What does it mean to refresh the norton installation?  Is Norton telling us that the only way to fix this is to remove it and reinstall the entire suite?  Why does this error happen in the first place?  It happened completely out of the blue.

Norton is not telling users.  I'm telling you fwiw that I refreshed my Norton 360 Traditional install & Secure Browser "Installation failed" cleared.
I first reported My Norton => Secure Browser => "Installation failed" with 22.23.9.9 on 17-Oct-2023.
So, at that time.  I installed Norton Secure Browser directly from Norton website.  "Installation failed" remained.
So, at that time.  I refreshed my Norton 360 install.
Secure Browser "Installation failed" cleared with my Norton 360 clean install...at that time.

Let us know if you figure out how to clear Secure Browser "Installation failed".

Disclosure: I've not installed Norton Secure Browser on my daily rider...since that time.

Note:
Norton Secure Browser...at this time...is Private Browser with my Norton 360 EAP 22.24.1.3

Agreed!  This is at least the second time I have been through this.  I know the recommended "fix" will be to "refresh your installation".  That is a polite way of saying use the removal tool to uninstall everything and then reinstall everything. In my case that means reinstalling not only N360 but also antitrack, driver updater, utilities ultimate and the secure browser.  That is terrible solution for something that is a false indication.

By the way, you can update the browser directly from the browser.  That works fine. But you shouldn't have an indication that it is not installed correctly.  That makes no sense.

As I already said in my original posted, I tried both hot restart and cold restart.  Neither will clear that false indication. Back to my original questions:

1) Why does it happen?  It was perfectly fine and when I checked this morning I have hat indiation.

2) How is the false indication cleared?

Norton really needs to address this.  Come up with a patch to fix this bug already.  It's not the first time I seen it and I am weary of using removal tool to clean everything out and reinstalling everything just to get rid of false flags.

FYI. I have the same issue as described above.

I installed Secure Browser manually as it was not yet in the Norton My Account.

Now that it is in My Account like the above, will not install.

Because we trust Norton with our PC's safety, they really should do a better job at SQA.

Have you restarted your computer after installing the Norton Browser? Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
