My Nortons product did not tell me to restart after a update for a day. Could I have been hacked?

Hey all,

First off I am running Nortons Internet Security 09. I have a 3 year plan so I guess it automatically updates to 10?

I run live update every time I log in. A few days ago I had a big update. (9 overall)  After the update it did not ask me to restart the computer. I went about the internet for 3 hours and signed off.

The next day I ran live update and it told me I had to restart the computer because there were old updates (from the day before) that were waiting for a restart. I worry about if the computer was open to attack the entire time that I had not restarted the computer.

My worry is, the computer has stoped blocking certain open port hacks.

For the last half year I have always gotten 3 port attacks at one time. One was 8085, another was in the 3000s and one in the 2000s.

The port blocking would always show those 3 attacks at the same time in my HISTORY LOG. After the BIG UPDATE a few days ago now it is only blocking the 8085 port. It no longer logs the 3000 and 2000 port ones.

Could someone have hacked my computer during the time that I hadn't restarted the computer to complete the updates?

I worry that a hacker could have forced Nortons to let the 3000 and 2000 ports remain open during the time that
I hadn't restarted the computer.

I have run virus scans like crazy but it shows nothing(other than the tracking cookies). The computer is acting normal.

Please help.
