Did you back up your Identity Safe Data before upgrading from the previous version of N360? It's always a prudent thing to do but I think there is a technique for dealing with your problem withoug losing your data.
I'm using Window Vista Home Prenium 32-bit OS ,and I'm having issues with Norton Identity Safe after upgrading it.
I'm upgrading my Norton 360 from 3.8.0.41 to 4.1.0.32 and after that the Identity Safe won't recongize my password
It still remembers my password hint though.
I don't want to reset my password and lost all my user/password records because I don't remeber some of them.
How could I solve the issue without losing the records?
Mopikoa,
If you are showing 4.1.0.32 as your version I would suggest running LU several times (you will need to reboot a couple of times during this process). If you run LU and reboot where it asks until you only receive a pulse update or no update then reboot and run LU again (again receiving only a pulse update or no update) you will know you are at the newest level of the product. At this point check if you can log in again. If this doesn't work then the other options mentioned should get you fixed up. But lets get you up to max before and test to make sure you still have the issue before the next steps occur.
I have the same problem. I was doing some research precisely to avoid losing all my Identity Safe logins when I renew my subscription for 2011 (this happened to me last year and it was a pain in the butt!). Somewhere along the line, I was prompted to update to Norton 360 4.0. That went smoothly, except that atfer the restart my Identity Safe password is no longer recognized as being correct! Like in Mopikoa's case, it does give me the password hint.
I have restarted multiple times and run LiveUpdate.
What the hzell is the problem with Identity Safe and upgrades?? How can I log in to my Identity Safe now?
Me again. I ran LiveUpdate a number more times (maye five times in total, restarting after each update) and now my password is accepted, phew! Still a pain in the behind, and clearly not user-friendly. Do you need to be tech-saavy to successfully use this (not cheap) product? :(
Now, to properly back up my logins before getting the 2011 product...

Good to hear that cleared it up.
You don't need to be tech savvy... Here is what generally happens in these circumstances.
1. You upgrade to the "new" product from the "old" product
2. The "new" one you install while it is new isn't unfortunately 5 mins "new". They tend to be a couple months "new" -- and as you saw you needed a few runs of LU to get all the way to max.
3. You run some form of update to get to the 5 min new version.
4. Use it -- tada... All is well
unfortunately you caught a fairly rare issue that has a fix but you hadn't gotten the fix. Once you were fully updated everything works as expected.
Thanks for your reply, BKennedy. Would it be possible to add a message to the download instructions to remind people to run LiveUpdate several times after installing a new product?
I wasvable to Google my issue and find some suggestions on forums, but I'm thinking of my parents and their friends... they might not get that far!
Normally it is not critical to get the version update immediately it is first released, apart from natural curiosity, but if there's been a problem that is fixed by the new update then of course it really does matter.
I think the double update has to do with forcing it quickly since I got my update yesterday following a manual liveupdate that did not download any large file and which did put up the Restart Now / Restart later buttons which I associate with major updates like for the engines.
After one reboot I checked Version ID and it was changed to 18.5
So I suspect ordinary users without a problem will not find it particularly complicated.
Most users get the product updates via a LiveUpdate in the background. For general users with normal computer use this will bring them up to full product within a couple of times of use. (for example turn it on in the morning -- use it on and off during the day and then shut it down at night)
Of course if an update is critical we will use more forceful messaging/notices to the user that it is present and needs a reboot if necessary.
If a user runs into an issue and goes to help and support or other Knowledge Bases for our product we usually ask the user to run LU to see if that solves the problem first before doing more drastic measures. A reboot or LU with a reboot many times solves the issues like this one.
Sorry if this is wrong place to post. However for over 10 years I am happy with NIS .This year I went to renew and there is an offer for 360 which I have avoided for years. I am considering it this year, but have read where my passwords and logins from NIS 2011 will not transfer over or work in 360. Anyone know if 360 and NIS 2011 have same ID safe, or not?? Of course I would have to know how to get them over to the new software.
Lastly, there is a backup storage in Premium. Is this for each of the 3 computers or total for all 3. It is my decision, but being overly happy for over 10 years with NIS is it even worth switching? Thanks to all for answers.

1. You can take a backup of your Identity Safe data to a .NPM file from NIS 2011 and use the same to restore it back into your N360 product
The backup storage capacity that is provided is tied with the subscription you buy and not for each computer. So you can utilize the online storage space combining all the 3 computers. Additionally there is option to buy more storage if needed.
I used Customer Online Support to try to manually save a user name & password to 360 because it wouldn't ask me if I wanted to save it. I never got the option. I had logged in with my usual password, then talked to the Norton 360 Tech. He took control of my computer and couldn't figure out how to do it. Then he upgraded 360. When I restarted the computer, it would not let me log in with my password....just like the other posters. I will try to do LU and see if it fixes anything.
My question is...if you know this is a problem, why don't the techs know about it and know how to fix it? To top it all off, I never did get my original problem fixed. I spent another 2 hours trying to log-in. Now I will try to do the LU. I sure hope it works, because I need my passwords.
If anyone knows how to manually save user names and passwords, please let me know.
Ok.....I kept on doing LU until my Norton 360 worked. Then I shut the computer down for the night. Now today when I started it up it will not start. It said that my last installation screwed the computer up. It said I had to do a system restore from the last time it worked correctly. So I did a restore. Now Norton 360 will not work at all.
Please help! I cannot get into any of my sites since I do not know my user names and passwords. Thanks!
