Hi,
Most of these issues I have just dealt with over the years, but I continually have slowdowns, and I'm sure it is due to the software. I've tried multiple solutions, like Go Back or rescheduling the various prompts, but that doesn't really address any of the issues. Sorry about the laundry list, but here goes:
1. Can't do anything for 15 minutes when I boot up my computer.
I essentially have to go do something else for 15 minutes while it checks my computer. Obviously, I don't want to turn off the process, but it takes forever, and then it always concludes 3 things: I need a full scan (more on that later), I need to do a clean up and I need to run Live Update. I have actually taken to NOT turning my computer off to try and avoid this.
2. One-Button Checkup often causes my computer to crash and takes a long time.
I used to have one-button set for 5pm on Friday (which I came to dread). I would try and let it go through the process, but more often than not, my computer would crash. If it didn't crash, then one-button checkup would take 30 minutes. Also, pretty much everything on my computer comes to a halt when it is ramping up to start. My solution was to move it to a time when I won't be on the computer (of course, I can't turn the computer off or it will never run).
3. Full System Scan NEVER completes.
I have tried probably on 30-40 different occasions to run a full system scan. I have never been able to complete one. Usually, about 2-1/2 hours into it (is this normal?), my computer will crash. I've tried to note the section that it crashes on, to figure out what would cause that problem (but I often don't have the patience to sit through 2-1/2 hours of scanning).
One note on this was that when I converted to XP on my old computer, I lost everything, but then found it again, but created a separate "Hard Drive" partition to house the new stuff. There is a lot of old stuff on the old "Hard Drive" (what I use primarily, rather than the new drive) that is saved, including a lot of cached images from the internet. I have tried to go and delete some of this, because I know it probably contributes to a high program/file check (when I look at the scan, it is in the 2-3 million file range). Some of it can't be deleted. I know that I can designate certain sections not to be checked, but this could be causing the issue?
4. Live Update doesn't load fast and brings all processes on my computer to a screeching slowness.
Suddenly, I am on the internet, but my browser is "not responding." I open up Task Manager, and I see that the NSCService is running and then a number of LuCallBackProxy.exe start cropping up. Basically, I cannot do anything else until Live Update opens. If I run the update every time it prompts me (I've seen from other posts that this is 3-4 times per day on the weekdays and 2-3 times on weekends), then it is 3-4 times a day. If I ignore it, then it is more times than that.
The thing is, is that it doesn't immediately open. Usually, it takes 25-30 minutes for it to pop open. Once I am aware of the situation, I go into Task Manager and I immediately close my browser. This usually shortens the process by 10 minutes. However, I don't think this is a great solution, also because of the slowness issues with Live Update finishing its process.
5. Live Update loads and decompresses reasonably fast, but doesn't finish fast.
Usually processing for download takes about 2-3 minutes and then depending on the size of the file(s), it downloads, decompresses and installs rapidly (4-5 minutes max). Then it just sits and sits and sits, and the "close" button doesn't activate for 7-10 minutes. Once it says it's installed, then shouldn't it be done?

I think this cover everything that is an issue. Would love some kind of solution that doesn't require me to stop everything I am doing to let it process, open, update and run, because that is taking too much time out of my day. And since I can't run a full system scan (and frankly, can't take the immense time to monitor it), is my computer being protected.

P.S. One other thing I thought of that hasn't come up recently: every once in a while, I get a pop-up that says "Worm detected and..." defused (for lack for a better word), but then I am totalled shut out of doing anything in my browser until I reboot my computer.
