Mystart Incredibar Incredimail

Friends, netizens, sage computer competents,

I beg you for your help and input regarding this problem I'm having. My girlfriend inadvertantly installed the "Mystart Incredibar" when she had been prompted to install a "codec" in order to watch some streaming video. This searchbar has insisted itself upon all three of her computer's browsers (IE, Firefox and Chrome) as the default search engine. It also originally made itself the home page for these browsers, though that was easily enough circumvented. Removing this program has proven exceedingly difficult, as it does not appear anywhere in her add/remove programs list in the control panel, neither as "mystart", "incredibar" or the associated "incredimail". Searching and deleting files containing these words seems impossible to my limited abilities, as these files always seem to block deletion, and then prove difficult to find again. Using Windows Restore shortly after the installilation of the program also proved ineffective.

Trying to find solutions on the net has also been frustrating, as it seems like every other site I go to is some startup malware removal site's attempts at selling a product I have little confidence will actually be able to remove my problem. When this isn't the case, what I find are many others like myself trying to find a solution, with unhelpful replys along the lines of "just change your homepage in your browsers options" and "just use windows remove program and uninstall". If only it were so easy. Occasionally, I read responses that seem to come from the company that produced "Incredimail", which insists there is nothing wrong with their program, and that removal is simple. It is not.

Aside from the frustration of having her browser searches relentlessly hijacked, I am also convinced that this program is taking up system resources. Worst of all is not knowing what else it is doing.

Please, if anyone believes they can help, respond. For any others whom also have experienced this problem, please reply and say "I suffer too". It is not unlike having a persistant medical ailment that, though minor, somehow baffles all doctors or causes them to turn away in silence.

Short of a solution, I am seriously considering enduring the pain of formatting the computer and reinstalling all her welcome programs.

Thank you for your time, consideration and (please god) your help.

-Trevor
