Hi everyone,
I have been trying to work out what was (and is again) wrong with my friend's pc. Basically he is experiencing the following:
- Extreme slow down
- 'Odd' things happening - icons disappearing etc.
- Occasional high CPU usage
- Mouse jittering/jumping.
I have no idea what it is. He has had a few viruses; After which I decided a reformat was needed, and thus I formatted his pc and reinstalled the operating system. It was FINE after that - worked like a dream.
and then... bang. It starts again.
Now, he has had AVG, Avira, NOD32 and Norton (recently, and due to my influence) and it has happened with all of them installed - separatley obviously - and before and after the format. I am under the impression that this is a hard drive problem - probably bad sectors and that sort of thing, but none-the-less, I have attached a HJT log and a gmer scan; if there is anything else that you would like me to look for or scan with, please let me know.
He tends to put his AV off while lanning (????).
I am going to be trying all areas to find out what is wrong, so any feed back would be great - maybe this is a rootkit, but I don't think so - but then I am no expert :-)
