A few days ago, a program called realdeal was downloaded and installed on my Win 8.1 64 system as an IE 11 add-on. I was completely unaware of this until the next day, when it redirected my browser from a site I was on, under the guise of doing a survey. The survey looked very suspicious, so I did not participate. Right after that, I started getting ads splashed all over my screen every time I used the browser.
Aside from the fact that I can't believe Microsoft would allow an add-on to be installed without my permission, I'm wondering why N360 did nothing to stop it. I Googled it and found lots of sites claiming it's a virus and/or malware. I guess it's a matter of opinion if it is either, but I would have thought N360 would have detected it. I ran a full system scan after finding the problem and N360 came up with nothing. I got rid of realdeal by uninstalling it, deleting its folder, and its registry settings, so everything is back to normal.
Has anyone else seen this issue or something similar?
