I have had N360 backing up my machine for sometime now that the back up is almost 90 Gigs. My question is why is it getting so large and isn't there a way to configure it to over write the backup that exists with the new back up. Isn't there something in the configuration that would allow me to set something like: " back up only new files"
It can backup both files and folders from your computer, and it can be executable files of Softwares and documents associated with it. Are you actually looking for backup imaging - to take image of programs/softwares and use that image on any other computer?
I'm not so sure I can help but this is clearly the difference between 'incremental' and full backups. What version of N360 were you using previously? I noticed that the option to choose between incremental or full backups disappeared or atleast became very hard to find in something like N360 v5. You might have noticed that I've had a few issues with N360 v6 backup/restore functionality myself recently and after resolving my problems I found that there is an N360 v6 User guide which can be downloaded from Symantec.com. The URL is ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/norton_360/6.0/manuals/n360_6_retail_ug.pdf
It might be worth a read when you have some time but I can't find any reference to choosing between full and incremental backups.
I don’t recall which version N360 was before the update, but it would have been the most recent. The last major update did a similar thing, and I believe that is when the incremental backup option disappeared from the off-line back-up. I had get rid of the existing back-up and start all over that time also. I don’t recall that I ever got an answer on why this happened, other than that I should use the online backup (which is not going to happen). After the last upgrade and new backup, the incremental backup did work properly until this current backup.
