N360 consumes available disk drive access time writing to diStRptr.dat and diStRptr.dat.log

diStRptr.dat is 52,558,848 bytes and diStRptr.dat.log will bounce from 2,869,776 bytes to 32 bytes to 2,869,776 bytes and back to 32 bytes.

After rebooting the system, it will run fine until N360 starts writing to diStRptr.dat, then everything slows to a crawl. It appears to be triggered by Internet explorer/Firefox. I thought at first it was connected to the password safe, but the last time I attempted to trigger it, it ran fine.

When it starts, I cannot get anything done.

I see that this has been reported back in 2012, but haven't found a resolution for this issue.
