N360 V21.1.0.18 Program Consumes 50+% of Processor Resources, XP OS

From time to time, Windows' Task Manager will indicate that N360.exe is consuming 50% or more of the processor's time and the executable does that continuously once it starts that activity.  Sysinternals' Process Monitor gives the details of what N360 is actually doing.  N360 appears to be reading the registry and reading/writing files.  According to the settings in the Task list, it should not be doing disk-accesses for moving files.

Two chats with the help desk only resolves the issue after they reboot.  If I reboot, it will go away for awhile without doing anything to the computer.

It not possible for me to see why one program should continuously consume 50% of available processor time, leaving other programs to share the remaining 50%.

Short of moving to another product, can anyone suggest something from me to try?  Any suggestions will be appreciated.
