N360v3.0 / NS&Rv2.0 Compatibility

Attempted to upgrade from N360v2.0 to N360v3.0 but upgrade failed because NS&Rv2.0 was already installed.  Any ideas?

 

This wasn't an issue when I upgraded from N360v1.0 to N360v2.0 last year.

 

Uninstalling NS&R is not an option.

 

Currently using XP Home.

Try this way:

Uninstall norton 360 2.0 ans S&R. Then install 360 3.0, and after 3.0's install run the setup of S&R.

 

Let us know the result.

This is the most easy advise to follow. If it doen'st work please try the removal tool

Finally got around to looking at this again after a break of 1 month.  Before attempting suggested solution I tried a normal upgrade again and, hey presto, it worked.  I can only assume that when the upgrade failed the first time, NS&R must have been doing something in the background which it wasn't doing this time.

I don’t know if it had made any kind of differnce but I believe that 360 went through a couple of small changes from version 3.0.0.134 to 3.0.0.135.

The only difference in them is the search box in the Norton Toolbar. Some localized versions do not have it, they are version build 134, and the versions that have the search box are 135.

Yea a lot of people must have really wanted to not have that show up upon starting there 360 :)  At least it can be turned on or off.

 

I wasn't sure if there was anything else that had been done in the small update.
