I am using the following:

ZoneAlarm v7.0.462.000
AVG Anti-Virus v8.0.100
Ad-Aware 2007 v7.0.2.5 with Ad-Watch running
Spybot Search and Destroy v1.5.2.20

What version of ZoneAlarm are we talking about?

It is the free version running on XP SP2

Please try to uninstall ZA –>reboot ;and see what happens

OK, so I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and ran the PC with my internet unplugged, and did not have a problem for a couple of days. I then tried using another firewall (Comodo), but I ran in to the same problems. I uninstalled Comodo and I have now plugged the internet back in with only the firewall from XP. Of course I am getting a lot of crap now, because I don't have a decent firewall.

Where should I go from here?

Thanks,

Firstly, I would recommend having a firewall program installed other than the Windows Firewall. Whether it's Norton Internet Security 2008 or a competitor's product, system security is most important.

Also, please post your system specs so we have some context for the 40% CPU usage. Thanks!

I finally figured out that my AVG VirusScan was running for hours on end, and this seemed to coincide with the NABAgent use CPU resources as well. I have changed the VirusScan settings to run manually now, until I figure why it runs so long. I am not having the NABAgent problem anymore.

My PC runs slow a lot, and when I look at Processes in the Windows Task Manager I consistently see the NABAgent.exe using 40% to 85% of the CPU resources. Does anyone know a setting that can be changed, or any solution to this problem?

With what security set up do you have it installed?
