I'm hoping someone will be able to help me fix whatever is stopping my father's NAV 2009 installation.
My father has Windows XP. Up until this morning, he was using NAV 2004. It stopped working when he started his computer this morning. The tech support person he chatted with was unable to fix the problem, since NAV 2004 is no longer supported. The tech support person upgraded him to NAV 2009 since he still has a year left on his subscription. She uninstalled NAV 2004 and used the Norton Removal Tool. Then she downloaded NAV09EN.exe to the desktop.
When tech support tried to install NAV09EN.exe, it finished downloading the virus definitions, then said "scanning", then said "intalling drivers", then it ended up uninstalling everything and sent an error report log to Symantec. The tech ran Chkdsk - it said there was an error in the system files and Chkdsk recommended we run "chkdsk c: /f". We did that, rebooted the computer, and ran Chksdk again. This time it did not find any errors.
So we tried installing NAV90EN.exe ourselves. It got to the same point in the installation process, then uninstalled everything again. We tried Tech Support Chat again. They ran the Norton Removal Tool and tried to install again with the same results. Chkdsk is not showing any errors.
My father is still doing the Tech Support Chat thing (talking with the 4th or 5th tech person today), but it seems like they're not making any headway. We've been working on this since 6:30AM (it is now nearly 5pm) so if anyone has advice, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
