Not so wet perhaps? <g>
I'm sure I've seen problems posted here to which the solution was to make sure the system date and time are correct -- apparently if it is more than XX out of touch with reality (at least as seen by other computers <g>) then LUD will fail.
So do check that out -- Time Zone date and time itself. I use the neat little applet NISTime to correct my clock routinely but I'd go into Control Panel / Date TIme and make sure it is correctly set there.
When you are there open the Internet Time TAB and disable the Check time automatically. I've run into some cases where having this set to ON causes problems instead of avoiding them!
Let us know if this helps or not and hang on for the cavalry. Norton Staff -- names in red -- here are great. Just give them time to catch up from the weekend!
Thank you huwyngr for your support.
Since my message above I have uninstalled NAV with Symantecs uninstaller again.
I reinstalled and still get the window popping up on boot that NAV is out of date.
I have chatted on-line with Symantec and they beleive it is a WinXP problem and not theirs.
I guess if it annoys me enough I may reformat and reinstall everything. I guess I will save that for a really boring few days.
Anyway we will see if other have similiar problems.
I do know that a similiar message pops up saying that Windows Firewall is not up and it is.
I think both problems are related to the Windows Secuirty Center and SP3 Update.
Maybe MS will have something to say in a few weeks with another update.
Thanks
Iggy
I know one time my updates showed out of date, but it was because I did a system restore and needed to change the calendar on my desk top
I wish it was that easy of a problem to fix but it isn't.
Maybe one day it will go away by itself.
On bootup my NAV 2008 says the virus defintiions are "OUT OF DATE" but are NOT!
Am I the only one with this problem?
Hope this subject doesn't get lost in all the problems people have with Symantec products. lol
Hey Iggy
Did you try downloading and running Intellegent Updater.
Well I finially decide to take the big plunge and solve this NAV problem.
I reformatted my HD and installed WinXP Home.
I did not install NAV 2008 until I installed SP2 and everything looked stable.
NAV did show the warning screens for a moment then after updates they vanished and never showed up again.
I'm now 100% installed all my programs and NAV 2008 is being good.
Tough way to correct the problem but it just bugged me to death.
