Hi inahaz,

By any chance are you using ATI Radeon X800 drivers?

If so, please see this thread and also this one.

Let us know.

Thanks.

Reinstalling Windows is never the answer. There is System Restore and also You can just uninstall NIS using the Norton Removal Tool. I have not had to reinstall Windows in over 5 years now and have uninstalled and reinstalled hunreds of different programs.

Thanks Diesel - but as I stated above, the Removal Tool sat and churned overnight with no success.  After poking around in safe mode a few times, the system would not even boot in safe mode.

Congrats on not having to reinstall windows for 5 years.  You must be more knowledgeable than me.

Now it will not boot? Have you tried a repair boot by inserting your XP CD and booting from it?
