NAV 2009 & Windows Firewal and Defender

I have been trying to find an answer to this. I have Norton Anti-Virus 2009 on Vista. When I installed it, it did not turn off my my windows firewall or windows defender.

 

Is it best to keep windows firewall and defender turned on with NAV 2009 or should they be turned off?

 

If they should be turned off, can you walk me through the steps to disable them.

You getting confused with NAV and NIS. NAV does not have a firewall hence Windows firewall still on.
