NAV 2010 disabling and msconfig issues

HI

I have xp home, SP3

I used to have NAV 2007 or 2008, but whatever it was, I could always stop it from loading on startup. I would just uncheck NAV entries in mscongo and disable similar in services.msc

now I install NAV 2010, 3 user pack

its all screwed up.

I tried Norton support, they cannot help me

here are the issues.

1.  I cannot completely stop NAV. If I go to mscongig, I do not see any NAV item there to uncheck! In fact, I have nothing there that is checked.

If I go to services.msc, I see 1 item from Norton only:  called 'Norton Antivirus'

If I try to disable it, I get an error message saying: 'unable to open service nav for writing on local computer  error: 5 access is denied'

2. another issue that has started after nav2010 was installed is this:

when I go to msconfig and try to check or uncheck any item for startup, I get a message saying:

'An access denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes'

well, I am the administator, I have never changed anything

the only windows thing I was working on was trying to fix a WMI issue that made my 'system information' process not work

the changes I make to msconfig still work, I just get that annoying error message

any ideas?

thanks

Dennis
