I've been having an issue with a virus that plays random ads through my speakers. I've run NAV and Power Eraser form XP and safe mode. Neither program finds anything.
Everytime I boot, I get a screen that forces me to load an app. It's a dialog with 2 criptic symbols and only an OK button...no other way to clear it. Norton removed the dll for the app but XP now generates warnings that the dll can't be found. So, NAV hasn't removed the app, just it's dll. I also tried the Boot Recovery Tool but it doesn't produce a bootable CD. I've checked all BIOS settings, boot order and priority but it just passes the CD by and boots from the HD. My system will boot to the XP install disk. Do I need to include other drivers ith the tool CD? What might they be called if so?
I'm very frustrated as you can imagine. I thought NAV was the sh*ts when it comes to safety...I guess I spent money for nothing at this point.
Any suggestions beyond what I've already tried?
Thanks,
