You might want to remove all that until a symantec Employee responds and then you may Sent it to them for Security Reasons.

NIS 2009 is out and you can upgrade for free. Please try fully uninstalling NIS 2008 using the Norton removal tool and installing NIS 2009. Do a complete scan with Malware Bytes also. You can also shut down alot of the HP stuff.

Please wait for symantec Employee to answer your Post and do not use the N.R.T. un-less you are having N.I.S. install issues or told to by an Error Message.

Reading through you log I see nothing abnormal.

Remove what ? and how ?

Uninstall your NIS amd install the latest version NIS 2009 using the Nortom Removal tool.

Do not use the N.R.T. un-less you are having issues with un-installing.

03. Go to Add/Remove.

04. Locate "Norton Internet Security (Symantec Corporation)" and click on "Remove".

05. Follow the instrctions and, when asked to, re-start your computer.

06. Locate to Add/Remove upon start-up.

07. Click on LiveUpdate and "Remove" and any other LiveUpdate.

08. If requested, re-start your computer.

09. Double-click on the Saved N.I.S. File on your Desktop.

10. Follow the instructions.

13. If you notice things not running right with N.I.S. 2009, it may be a bug; please Post them here [in the Forum].

The person is having NAV issues. Its best to start off with a clean slate. If the user wasn’t experiencing issues then you have a valid point. But there are issues so using the removal tool for a good clean is the best idea.

But it could just be Norton Security Products' Issue, which could be Resolved via Add/Remove.  And the User will lose all the Identity Safe Log-Ins if they do you N.R.T., as well as any other Norton Products.

However, I would maybe think about using the Norton Removal Tool since the user is currently having Securtiy-Product Issues.

Red, I agree with you that trying normal install or uninstall is best on the first shot.

However you were wrong when you said "... the User will lose all the Identity Safe Log-Ins if they do you N.R.T.."  Other products they will lose, but IS log-in informatin is retained as I found out when I used NRT.

I don't know if it was supposed to be, but it was.

I found this too.  When asked if I wanted to keep Log-In information from Identity Safe (I.S.) when un-installing via Add/Remove Norton 2008, and I used the N.R.T. on Norton 2009, I was surprised to see that the I.S. Log-Ins were still there!  However, stu said he lost his on using the N.R.T..
