NAV Engine Error, unable to install update(8920,200) Running LiveUpdate on NAV 2010

Is anyone else having problems updating from Norton's Live Update?

I have NAV version 17.6.0.32,  I can't update to version. 17.7?  I installed NAV 2010 two weeks ago and haven't been able to receive product update!  I receive other updates through live update just not the product update?

It's been uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now too and still the same thing!    (I used the Norton's uninsstall tool as well!) My OS is XP Pro!

Hello Cheetah10

Welcome to the Norton Users Discussion Forum

We can't see your pic until the mods approve it.

Can you please tell us the operating system and service pack you are using? What security product did you use before NAV 2010 and how was it removed? What are you using for a firewall since there is no firewall in NAV 2010? Do you have any other real time security programs running now. Sorry for all the questions, but it helps to trouble shoot your problem. Thanks.

Hi Cheetah10

After running liveupdate did you reboot your PC?

[ After running liveupdate did you reboot your PC?]

Yes my computer has been rebooted numerous times!

Thanks Floplot! :smileyhappy:

Ohhh ok,  sorry about that!   I didn't know it was still awaiting approval!

Hey no worries on the questions, I know the more detail the better!  ^__^

My OS is XP Pro,  Service Pack 3

I have used only NAV for the last 10yrs on my computers,  last NAV was 2009!

it was removed with the Nortons removal kit!  (several times)

I use Windows firewall for now.

I removed Spybot search and destroy from the computer

I have Pest Patrol running now! But I have always had the firewall and the pest patrol on with my previous versions of NAV?

Thanks

Hello Cheetah10

It looks like your picture wasn't approved.

Are you running the free version of Pest Patrol? The paid version would definitely conflict with your Norton product since it has real time protection. I don't think the free one will remove anything it finds. If you want a 2nd on demand scanner to work along with NAV 2010, I would recommend the free version of Malwarebytes and the free version of SuperAntiSpyware.

The engine in NAV 2010 is stronger than in 2009. This pest patrol may be interfering also. If you installed NAV with Spybot installed with Tea Timer on, then you may not have received a clean install of the program. The same thing may be happening with this Pest Patrol program.

I would suggest that you try uninstallng the Pest patrol program completely and then try installing NAV again after you have used the Norton removal tool and see if it works and if you get all the updates that way.

Please come back and let us know how you made out. Thanks.

Heya Floplot,  sorry it's taken me so long to get back to ya!   Hmmmm. I wonder what was wrong with the pic?  Maybe it was to large a file?

I tried what you said and uninstalled the Pest Patrol (Yes I have the paid version) and used the Norton Removal tool and reinstalled my Nortons Anti-Virus program and ran live update and the NAV Engine still won't load?

Do you have any other suggestions?

Also I got the free versions of Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware.  I'll put them on after I get NAV 2010 resolved.

Thanks

Cheetah10

Heya Norton Figher,   yup I did reboot the computer a couple of times!  ^__^

Hello Cheetah10

Since you haven't been able to install NAV 2010 all this time, what have you been using as an Antivirus program? It might be a good idea to run a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes to see if perhaps there is some malware that is preventing the engine from loading up. Please update the program before you run the scan and then try posting the log after you save it using the add attachment link

Another thing, have you tried installing it from the link that we can provide you? Have you been trying to install it from a boxed version? You can download NAV 2010 from here. This is the English version. I am assuming that your version of NAV is the same language as your operating system is.

You can download NAV 2010 from this site.

Please don't forget to run live update until there are no more updates.

Thanks
