NAV: Truly Quiet Mode needed

I have Norton Anti-Virus 2011. I have it configured such that a particular program will put it into Quiet Mode. That has worked fine for me in the past.

However, yesterday, NAV decided that my computer was idle and started running a background task. I suspect, but have no way of knowing, that it was running the Idle Time Optimizer module. (I was not touching the mouse or keyboard, but I was very much using the computer.)

When was this feature added? When did this feature decide it could ignore Quiet Mode? How do we set it to respect a request for Quiet Mode?

I've disabled the Idle Time Optimizer entirely and will live without it until there is a fix.

I have 30 days left on my subscription. Before I renew, I need to know: Are there any other features that don't respect Quiet Mode that I should consider disabling? For instance, will the monthly report pop up while Quiet Mode is enabled, and should I thus disable that? What else, if anything?

I don't recall seeing the Idle Time Optimizer in NAV 2010 and suppose that this must be a new feature. If that's true, is there any way to get the program to, by default, not turn on new features until I first understand and approve them?

The most important question to me: Is there any way, short of uninstalling it, to get Norton Anti-Virus to go truly and fully quiet while user-specified programs are running?
