NAV Upgrade 2009 to 2010 fails on TechCenter Edition

Hello,

currently, I'm running NAV 2009 TechCenter Edition on Windows XP Pro. Actually, it's a German edition labelled NAV 2009 Kompakt, but my Symantec account states that it is a TechCenter Edition.

I got an e-mail notification from Symantec that I'm entitled to upgrade to NAV 2010 free of charge. I followed the link provided in the e-mail, downloaded the file, ran the installation process, and rebooted the system when I was prompted to do so.

After the restart and a delay of approx. 2 minutes, a window popped up offering 2 choices for the deinstallation(!) of NAV 2010 (keep or delete my passwords, settings, etc.). I did not click on either, but closed the window.

Another pop-up window appeared on the screen, telling me that the installation of NAV 2010 was not completed yet. So I clicked on the OK button to finish the installation, but - after another restart - history repeated itself, offering the deinstallation of NAV 2010.

In another attempt, I did not chose to finish the installation, but to keep what was currently installed. It turned out that this was a trial installation with 15 days left. My old license key was not accepted by this version of the software.

The guy in the support chat provided the standard advice: run the Symatec removal tool, then do a fresh install. And he told my that the license key for NAV 2009 would also be accepted for NAV 2010.

Alas, it did not. I was told that this is an invalid key.

So I reinstalled my NAV 2009. Then I logged into my Symantec account and clicked on the button to check for a new version. I had to download a program to run on my computer and check for upgrades. It told me that there are none.

Do I have to wait until the upgrade from NAV 2009 TechCenter Edition to NAV 2010 is available through LiveUpdate, or is there another way to upgrade?

Kind regards,
