Hello nightrabbit,
If you hover the mouse on the "i" next toEmail / Message Scanning on the main user interface and select Ignore, then it shouldn't change your security status.
Let me know if this helps!
I’ve recently upgraded from NAV’08 to '09, and like '08 I’ve turned off email scanning, since I don’t use client side email, and browser protection, as I have my own preferred methods for that. However unlike '08, '09 insists on telling me I’m at risk, '08 if I remember correctly had a feature which let you ignore ‘at risk’ notifications for features you had purposely tuned off.
I’ve yet to find a similar feature in '09, am I correct in assuming one does not exist?
I realize it does not affect the performance of NAV, but I do partially rely on NAV’s at risk notification to inform me when I’ve been delinquent in keeping the program up to date or in running scans. The notification becomes ineffective if it’s always displaying ‘at risk’ because I’ve chosen not to use some of the program’s features.
There is no feature as far as I know but I also use web based email (Yahoo) and I do not need email scanning but having it checked running is no big deal. Most av’s have an email scanner that you cannot shut off without warning. Avira and KAV also do what NAV 2009 do. Its common practivce so people who use POP3 know they are unprotected.
