NAV2009 Security History and Idle Quick Scans

I believe the history file has a ceiling of 375 gB.  But I may be mistaken.  They may have raised that to 1.5 TB

Have set Idle quick scan to monthly, but I see numerous scans daily in the history.

Norton Community Watch set to off - but still shows many items in history each day.

There is no option to delete the History.

 

Even when you set a scan to "Monthly" it [Idle Quick Scan] will Run after you get Norton 2009 Virus Definitions.

 

With regard to N.C.W.: This is odd.  They must stack up so, if you do turn it back on, will Submit them; could symantec shed some light on this.

I’m affraid that I have to admit that this is one thing I hope Symantec will work on.

There is currently no way to to clear the history all at once - we'll get this fixed in a future version.  For now, most categories can be cleared individually.

- Select View: Norton Community Watch, then at the bottom-right side of the screen, select "Clear Submission Log"

- Select View: Scan Results, then "Clear Scan Results" at the bottom right side of the screen.

- etc

 

The idle quick scan will generally run once or twice a week, but it will be re-scheduled to run at the next idle time after definitions are downloaded (and will run within a day if no idle time is found).

Mike - thanks for your help - can delete everything but notices of me turning Light silent mode off and on.

 

I think NAV2009 or NSW2008 is disables Window Security Center - any way to stop this?

 

Also I am sure you are aware that NAV2009 is not seen by NSW2008 and Windows Security Center and both show no antivirus installed.

We currently do not have an option to clear Silent Mode history. I think Symantec is aware of this issue.

 

Norton products are designed in such a way that they disable the Windows Security Center service after the installation and then all the Windows Security alerts will be conveyed through the Norton product.

 

Also I am sure you are aware that NAV2009 is not seen by NSW2008 and Windows Security Center and both show no antivirus installed.
