You want to buy it from the symantec Online Store Package, yes, and not the Download? Just want to confirm.
If that is the case, then, by the time it arrvies at your door, your Subscription (Sub.) will have Expired. I am un-sure that, if you bought another Download Sub. for N.AV. 2008 and then bought the Package for 2009, that you would get your money back, although, if you contacted Support or mentioned what you Order Number was in this lovely Forum, you would get your money back. Just like to point out that you can use your N.AV. 2008 Sub. on N.AV. 2009 when it gets Released.
Why not Upgrade to N.I.S. 2009?
its been said in many places here now by the symantec staff that 2008 keys will work 2009 product.... So you have no worries..
personally anymore you don't really even need the CD... just use the link http://www.symantec.com/newnis whenever you need to download.... the only time having the CD could be benefical is if you are on non-broadband internet... even then tho if possible it would be wiser to d/l on a borrowed broadband connection (or even over dialup).... the downloaded program will always be more up to date than whatever CD you have around....
With a C.D. you can:
- install the Norton Product without being Connected to the Internet.
- install the Norton Product if a Virus of other Internet Threat blocks access to the Web Page of the Download.
That is the two main Features of having a C.D. instead of Download. :)

....even then and especially then I would prefer to get the most up-to-date install image possible and sneaker net it over to the other machine...
Thanks Fellas. I just read that it (NAV2009) is out. But I read that it does not have the inbound firewall. So if I use NAV 2009 rather than NIS2009, can I use my windows Vista firewall?
Yes, you can use your Windows Vista Firewall. Or…you can buy Norton Internet Security 2009 and get our firewall.
I just want to be sure about using the Vista Firewall. When I bout the NAV2008, I was told that if I used the Vitsa Firewall, I'd have to turn off the Norrton AutoProtec and Internet Worm Protection.
So does NAV 2009 not have internet worm protection on it?

When I used NAV2008 with the Vista firewall, My security panel showed two firewalls on. When I discussed this with a Norton tech support person, I was told to only use one, and that if I used the Vista Firewall I had to turn off the NAV2008 internet worm protection and auto protection. That didn't sound safe so I opted to use the NAV2008. But then I was told that NAV2008 did not contain a firewall. I later discovered (through this forum) that the NAV did contain an inbound firewall and that I was safe using just that. But to clarify:
1.NAV2009 does not contain a firewall of anysort? Not even inbound?
2. That if I use NAV2009, I still need to get a firewall to use (be it Vista or others)?
3. That if I use another firewall such as Vista, I can still keep on the NAV 2009 internet worm protection and intrusion protection and there should be no conflicts?

02. Yes. If you buy N.AV. 2009, then you will need to have the Vista Firewall on.
03. I don't know why Support told you that. You can have Intruison Prevention on. In-bound Firewall is a.k.a. Internet Worm Protection.
I would think about buying N.I.S. 2009 as that does contain symantec's Firewall.
