Hello, Norton Community.
Here are my concerns about Norton Bootable Recovery Tool(NBRT).
1. NBRT doesn't have "Options" menu in main UI which means that it's not setup-able at all.
IMO "Options" option can consist such items like Network settings, File heuristic settlings(like heuristic aggressiveness) and other things which can improve product usability and effectiveness in some non-default cases.
2. NBRT doesn't have "Areas to scan" option. What this mean? For an example, if I have a large HDD with more than 1 TB of data then 'Scan all' option will be not an excellent decision because of long scan times and overall disc activity. As solution you can tweak "Scan all" option to scan only bootable partition/disk, because active infection will exists in "Windows", "%PROGRAMFILES%", and/or User profiles folders almost in all cases. Or you can add an option to select what folders to scan in addition of scanning of system folders.
3. NBRT doesn't support file exclusions, moreover while scan is running user can't watch what file is detected by signatures and can't exclude that file from deletion. User can't select post scan action on detection - default action is Remove(Resolve).
"Exclusions" is an very important thing which helps prevent possible false-positive detection of legitimate 3-rd party software.
4. "Undo session" is capable of restore only all detections removed by scan. How about manual selection of what needs to be restored and what not needs to be restored,
