Need Help -- Norton Ghost 15 fails to allow mounting of recovery point -- and file recovery

I made my first backup with Norton Ghost 15 today, and I cannot now "Recover My Files" from this backup. Specifically, when I search for any filename under "Find files to recover" I get this error:

"Cannot mount the recovery point (D:\[MY_PATH]\[MY_BACKUP_NAME.iv2i]. Result (0xe98f0032 21 RPAM_ERR_MOUNT_FAILED Args [1] Arg (0xbab0006 0xe0bb01aa)."

The incremental backups seem to proceed just fine, and the Event Log shows no errors except this one:

Result (0xec8f1780 28 VPRO_ERROR_RECONCILE_CHANGES Args [1] Arg (0xbab0012 Result (0xec8f1771 30 VPRO_ERROR_ENUM_SYSTEM_VOLUMES Args [1] Arg (0xbab0012 Result (0xebab03e9 34 ERROR_MEMORY_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ Args [2] Arg (0xbab000d 8 c0000005) Arg (0xbab000d 8 00000000);));));)
Details:
Source: Norton Ghost

My hardware configuration is as follows:

CPU = Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz
MOTHERBOARD = Intel DQ965GF
RAM = 8GB (4 x Avant Tech 2GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300U DDR2-666; 5-5-5-15 3-20-5-3)
OS = Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.01.7600)
HARD DISK (C:) : 2TB (NTFS) @ 2x WDC WD2003FYYS-02W0B 2TB (RAID1/SATA)
POWER SUPPLY = Zephyr 650W
VIDEO = NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 (96 SM5.0 1.4GHz, 1GB, PCIe 2.00 x16)
SOUND = Intel 82801H (ICH8) HD Audio Controller

I have attached a detailed SiSandra hardware report, giving all the details of my hardware.  CPU and RAM utilization seem normal.  Can someone please offer a suggestion?

Thank you for your reply. I have answered your questions below.

>Do you verify the Recovery Points as they are created?

Yes, that option is checked.

>Can you browse to the .v2i or .iv2i file and double click it to open with Recovery Point Browser?

Yes.

>Once the image file is open in Recovery Point Browser, you can verify the image and try to recover files from there.

Yes, I verified the images, and the images are valid.  I am able to recover files and folders by using the Recovery Point Browser with no problems.

>What type of drive are the .v2i and .iv2i files stored? How is it connected?

The drive is a Western Digital Caviar 2TB (WD2001FASS-00W2B0, 2TB, SATA300, 3.5") that is connected internally via SATA2.

Even though the Recovery Point Manager works perfectly for me, I am still unable to make any use of the "Recover My Files" feature as described in my original post....

Apparently that method does not work for me either. I get slightly different errors.

Can you mount the .v2i or .iv2i file as a drive letter? That is- browse to the file, right click and choose Mount.

Actually, no, I can't. I get Error E98F0032 when I try to mount the backup by right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and selecting Mount.

(I did successfully manage to restore the entire backup, however, using the Custom Boot CD and selecting to recover my computer, but my problems still persist with being able to restore and search for individual files as described above in my original post.)

I honestly never knew you could restore files from an image under "Recover My Files".

I thought that was only for the file and folder backups that I hate and never use.

I tired it and was able to open an image but then I got an error about having too many files that can be displayed.

I was viewing by "filename" and there appears to be a 10,000 line display limit.

I prefer using one of the other ways myself, but if you can't mount an image then something is wrong.  It also may be the reason why you can't use recover my files as well because the error says "mount failed".

WRivington,

Did you ever get this resolved?

I somehow ended up with that same Error E98F0032 trying to mount an image as a drive letter. I tried doing a repair install and tried running the FixInstall.bat file. No go. After fooling around long enough, I got it working and the file search is now working. I'm not exactly sure how I fixed it though. I did right click the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Ghost\Shared\Drivers\win64\SymSnap.inf" and clicked INSTALL.  At some point the Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider was no longer showing up when I ran the command: vssadmin list providers so I found THIS PAGE and altered the command to register the Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider. I used the command: vssproviderinstallx64.exe -register "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider" SymsnapProviderx64.dll "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider" "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider". Now everything seems to be working again. I wonder if installing Windows 7 SP1 messed something up?
