Need help, not sure how to renew norton with code

I recently purchased Norton 360, and I can share it with 3 different computers. I am trying to put it on my boyfriend's computer using the code I was given after the purchase. He had a trial version of Norton that has already expired, I clicked on the desktop icon and clicked renew. I put the code into the area that says "Enter subscription renewal code or othe product key" and when I hit continue it told me the key was invalid. Am I doing it wrong?

Hi mgn88,

Is the version installed on your boyfriend's computer Norton 360 Standard or Premier edition? A product key for Norton 360 Standard edition can only be used to renew/activate a Standard version, and a key for the Premier version can only be used to activate the Premier version (=the Premier and Standard keys are not interchangeable).

In your case, you can contact Symantec Customer Service at the link below and chat with them for free at this link (for US and Canada); they can sort out issues with regard to product keys, activations etc. pretty quickly:

Please tell us how it goes - thanks :-)

In the space where I am entering my product key, do I need to enter the key to the trial version that came on his computer?

In the space where you enter a new product key, type in the key of the Norton 360 you purchased; you have to make sure, however, that they are the same edition (Standard or Premier); otherwise, you can contact Symantec Customer Support at the link indicated in my previous post, and they should be able to help you pretty quickly.

I'm not sure which version he has, it was only trial though. Is there any way to get 360 on his computer?

The Standard version comes with 2 GB of online storage space, the Premier edition with 25 GB storage space. You can get the appropriate trial version from one of the links below:

Norton 360 Version 4 Standard Edition (English):

Norton 360 Version 4 Premier Edition (English):

Note: these links are not valid if you have the Comcast version of Norton 360.

However, I suggest that you contact Customer Support to see why your key is being indicated as invalid before going through the whole process of (un)installing.

I will also ask a moderator to move your thread to the Norton 360 board :-)

mgn88,

I'm not certain about this but the trial version installed by the PC manufacturer may be a special version for them or a generic OEM version that manufacturers use and so a "retail" KEY may not work.

Why not try uninstalling the version on his computer -- after saving anything he wants to keep like Identity log-in information -- and then installing in the way you did.

When you do that you will have to go to your Norton Account via the internet on his computer so when it asks you on his computer to log into the Norton Account you must use your email address and password -- so remember that you have given him access to this in case you break up .... :smileysad:

Your licence is for 3PCs in the same "household" -- don't ask, don't tell .....
