I was following the instructions on how to get Norton cover for my two (very basic Nokia Lumia) phones and was doing okay until I came to "Do you want to open or save this file (which should I do, by the way?). I then get a message saying " We can't download this file because Windows Phone doesn't support this file type" Why not? I don't understand this or know if there is anything I can do. I should be most grateful if someone could help me in my ignorance. Thank you.
According to Microsoft it is not possible.

Easy solution.........................Change your phone number. Your phone is also very old and if you are eligible for an upgrade I would highly recommend it.
Can I use Norton ConnectSafe on my smart phone?
Norton ConnectSafe protection is available on a smart phone when connected to a WiFi network. If you are technically savvy and your device supports it, you can change your smart phone's WiFi DNS settings to use Norton ConnectSafe.
Despite what others have said there are no instructions on how to set your phone up for Norton DNS filtering. If you Google it I am sure you can find how to change your Windows phone's DNS setting. If you can.
I am very grateful for the responses so promptly given - even if it is not good news! I will look at the Connect Safe site. I am worried because on one of my phones there are numbers coming up which are stating that I have made outgoing calls to these numbers (which I have not). I have blocked the numbers to see if that helps.
Many thanks again. I am not very good technically (I am getting on in years and while I know how to make my devices do what I want to do I am hopeless at understanding how they work) but will take on board the advice I have been given by you good folks!
You can still add the IP-addresses of the DNS-servers to your WiFi connection on the phone. Read the Connect Safe site.
@ 20750065.................Norton Connect safe is just DNS filtering. It is for a router or a pc. There is no setup for a Windows phone.
@Annieliz:
1st:
Microsoft will not be supporting any AVs in their mobile OS version...
2nd:
You can (still) make use of the secure DNS feature when using Wi-Fi in Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia, in your case here).
