Hi Guys
If any of you guys know a lot about MacBooks then It would be very much appreciated! This is nothing to do with software but more of just a silly mistake!
The other day some how my friend managed to put a magnet down on the right side of the touch pad on their MacBook Pro. After they did that it began to make weird noises so they shut it down by holding the power button.
After this they then turned the mac back on and it came up with a flashing question mark.
They then got advice to use the command cmd + r when they did this the first time nothing happened.
They then did it again and it brought them to some options where it asked them to use time machine back up or install the OS again. But they couldn’t do this because they didn’t have the disk to install the OS which is Mountain Lion.
We got advice from 3 people who are regular MacBook users and they said that the best bet would be to go too Apple. I just thought I’d make this thread just incase you guys have any ideas about it!!
Bottom line the question I’m asking is do you think a magnet could of demagnetised the MacBook? Or could it be something completely different? Because I thought with technology now a days things like this wouldn’t happen!
Any information on this would be great!!
Thank you in advance!
Regards
