Chris:

Greetings.

Based on the problem at hand, my recommendation would be to completely un-install the product & remove all the temp files & folders as well.  Once that is done, re-boot the computer & then re-install.  If this works, then use LiveUpdate to obtain the most recent virus definitions.

Good luck,

Shadow1

I agree with Shadow1, but I will go one step further.

Sometimes a computer aberration will corrupt a file in such a way that it becomes "circular".  When this happens, the file cannot be read, copied, moved, or ... deleted.

The only way to get rid of it is to delete the folder containing it.

So after you uninstall NAV2007, you should go back to your folder structure and make certain the folder containing the file (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\COH\) has actually been deleted.

Now that I think about it, something like this can also explain aborted installations.

The first time I had simply unistalled Norton but I went back and ran the Norton Removal Tool which seemed to do the trick.  Symantec also let me upgrade to NAV 2009 which I have installed successfully.

Thanks.
