Need help with renewing my subscription to Norton Internet Security 2011

Hello all, my name is Tim. I have a problem with renewing my Norton Internet Security 2011.

So last year in 2011 I purchased an HP desktop computer. It came with a monitor, keyboard, mouse, Windows 7, some software, and Norton Internet Security 2011. The product was good for an entire year.

Now fast forward a year later to a few days before my Norton product expired. With unusually bad timing I got a rootkit virus on my computer and had to reformat the entire operating system. I lost everything, but that wasn't a big deal because I always back up my files on a portable flash drive.

Well, I called HP initially to help me deal with the virus and they told me of reformatting my hard drive, which of course erased everything on my computer and reset it back to factory conditions. Before I got off the phone I asked the HP technician about my Norton product expiring in a few days.

The HP technician told me that I was good for another year. He told me all I had to do was open Norton up, type in my product key, and that was it.

Well, I think screwed everything up. I updated my Norton Internet Security 2011 to Norton Internet Security 2012, but that wasn't it. I may have went to the site, and on the wrong page, updated my Norton product from the product itself to a TRIAL version, the trial version being which Norton Internet Security 2012.

After downloading the product and waiting for it to finish installing on my computer and whatnot, I looked at the DAYS LEFT timer, and it said 15 DAYS LEFT. That didn't sound right to me.

I may have messed something up or skipped a step or had just gotten confused altogether.

I need help retracing my steps and trying to figure out how to get my second year of Norton Internet Security product for free. The HP technician on the phone said my code was inside the box, which I checked and there was none, or saved on my online Norton account somewhere and that I could get the code and use it to RENEW my Norton product for another year.

I only have a few days left of this Norton product, whatever it is, whether it being a trial version, the real product, or whatever, so some immediate help would be much appreciated.

Thank you, and sorry for this post being so long!
