Hi, for a while now my wifes computer have been getting several diff types of trojan and virus attacks.
She is running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit.
Her computer is on our home network which also has my HP pavillion on it and our laser printer.
We share a public folder between computers.
Norton Internet Security (not sure how to show current ver of norton) and latest virus definitions.
About 2 months ago she started doing alot of work with superpages (web support people) and facebook people and youtube people for her business. It appears, since around that time she has been getting lots of various attacks on this (her) computer.
I have been checking the history logs regularly, and Norton appears to be stopping all the attacks, but it worries me that they are consistant and will sooner or later cause many problems.
Now, she is getting lots of various trojan virusas, still, repeatedly, and a nasty Backdoor.Pihar virus constantly.
Norton, says is fixes it, but it keeps coming back.
Over the past month she has been having severe cpu issues with something taking all the cpu time.
we resolve it is from srvchost.exe from these trojans. Hence the need for more help than we can handle ourselves.
How can we stop this for good?
I have exported and attached the full norton history log to this thread? for others to review and advise?
I've looked all over the Norton support pages, but find no conclusive help as of yet. And have tried to understand alot of the other stuff in the history to see if there is a way to prevent anything else. But there is alot of stuff there.
I have turned on Norton Insight in the hope that it may be of help, but haven't been able to see any feedback yet.
To recap:
We regularly do quick scans, full scans, and deep scans
Norton will fix whatever it finds.
Various viruses will still return the next day.
Live updates regularly done.
Don't think she has any OS security updates applied, probably need to check this to.
Its to the point that i feel her OS files are getting corrupted from this.
Don't want to have to reload or get a new machine if we can stop this problem.
Don't want to have to pay someone to come in and deal with this for us either.
Since she has been doing alot of work with facebook people and youtube, etc she probable got the problems from there.
She has now stopped using facebook and disabled her page on it.
We probably need to tighten the internet and filesharing options as well, but aren't sure exactly what to change.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and thanks, in advance.
Sincerely,
