The employer should have taken care of remote access for their employees. I had the system administrator set it up for me.

@Nika, just following up to see if we can assist further.

Hello Nika. Has the employer you are working remotely for offered a safe solution for your remote work? Windows RDP has had / does still have serious issues with vulnerabilities. I would work with the entity you are working for to solve a safe solution for your remote connection for those reasons.

Hello! This is a pretty safe and convenient method. The app is easy to use, but has some limitations.

The application can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for all versions of Windows 10, but the RDP, which provides access to remote devices, is only available in the Windows 10 Pro and Business versions. This means you won't be able to access your Windows 10 Home edition computer remotely.

Step-by-step instructions are here https://www.helpwire.app/blog/how-to-use-remote-desktop-windows-10/ If you haven't done this before, this article will help you.

Hi parthiban102:

What is your Windows operating system, and is it  patched with the latest available security updates?

See MEF's 15-May-2020 post in Will Not Take Product Key Or Install New Norton Security Deluxe about a similar "This product is not compatible with this computer's operating system" error message on their Win XP SP3 computer.  If you have an older operating system like Win XP, Vista or Win 7 SP0 (i.e., Win 7 without Service Pack 1) please note that you cannot install the latest Norton v22.20.2.57 products and must use a legacy Norton v22.15.x product  - see Norton employee Gayathri_R's March 2018 announcement Norton Maintenance Mode for Windows XP and Windows Vista.  The current legacy version for these older operating systems is Norton v22.15.3.20  - see the 15-Apr-2020 product update announcement Norton 22.15.3 for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 SP0 is now available! for more information.

MEF posted <here> on 17-May-2020 that they were eventually able to install the correct legacy installer for their Win XP SP3 computer using the "Get Started" link in the purchase confirmation email sent to them by Norton LifeLock.

Hi Jim,

Yes, the documents you have stored online will be available to download for use in a newer version of Office. Your Word and Excel documents created in Office XP will be readable and editable by a newer version of Office since those programs are backward compatible.  However, if using Outlook 2002 for your email, those pst files will not be directly readable by newer versions of Outlook.  There are some easy workarounds to import/convert your older email files into a newer version of Outlook and if you decide to go that route, I can supply some links to explain the process. In short, you should not lose any of your previous work as long as you can take some time to convert the Outlook files.

I am concerned about installing Windows 10 on a machine designed for XP. I think you may will run into some hardware and driver issues if you install Windows 10 on an XP computer.  I have personally seen a few Windows 7 machines exhibit serious issues after updating to Windows 10 and Win 7 is a much closer version than XP.  Many of these machines were dubbed ‘compatible’ when Windows 10 was first rolled out and worked fine for a while. But after the third major Windows 10 build update, the computers began to experience issues.  I don’t know who is trying to sell you on Windows 10, but I don’t think that would be wise for your XP machine. That is too much of a leap in versions for the hardware you have.

My best advice is to wait until you can afford to purchase a new computer specifically designed and built for Windows 10.  Windows 10 is a very nice operating system and I think you will have the best experience using a machine built for that operating system.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
