Need to Temporarily Deactivate N360 To Install Windows7

Have a Vista (64bit) OS; preparing to transition to Windows7.  The Win7 installation instructions say to disable the anti-virus program -- can't figure out how to temporarily disable N360:  no disable command in the system tray icon, and can't stop the N360 service.

Thanks in advance for any help you more experienced users can provide.

You can only turn off the different parts temporarely. To fully deactivate Norton, you have to uninstall it.

As I heard from other users, Norton products run much better if you uninstall them during the update process.

Depending on how uptodate your N360 is I would follow PapauZ's comment and uninstall N360 then reinstall it using a direct download of the more recent file:

New N360 V4:

Click on the link that matches your version:

Norton 360 v4 Standard: www.norton.com/n360s_4  <<-- version with 2GB of online storage

Norton 360 v4 Premier: www.norton.com/n360p_4    <<-- version with 25GB of online storage

Just makae sure you have a copy of the activation KEY in your online MyNortonAccount and if you use the Identity Safe that you have a backup of the data in it.

Some worry about not having protection while installing but since the only thing installing Windows wants to do on line is check for updates you can either let it or tell it to do it later. Personally I prefer it to update before installing things!
