Neteller

I got an alert this morning, neteller.com compromised my home phone number. I deleted it from my checking and paypal accounts, the only ones that have direct access to my money but is there something else I should be doing? I am having trouble finding the recommended next steps in a case like this. Can you help? Thank you.

You are welcome.

Glad I could help.

Thank you!

The Identity Protection Service notifies you of any questionable detections of your personal information. Such as someone trying to open some account with your personal information.

You need to contact the correct support department as the general Norton Support contacts we give here in the forums are for the anti malware products.

Try contacting support for Identity Protection using the information on this page.   https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-identity-protection/current/contact

This came from Norton identity protection service. I'm trying to work with them but they just transfer me from person to person. What a waste of money this "service" is. I will be canceling as soon as it expires.

Your screenshot doesn't indicate anything related to Norton, thus the suggestion. I have never received any emails from Norton for anything detected. Was this from LifeLock?

Cheers

I am wondering why I should contact neteller when the message comes from Norton.

Thank you. I took a screen shot and that would not upload so converted to a pdf. I will contact neteller.  Thank you.

NJF, this article outlines a better way to post images directly into your posts. Since the email indicates possible ID theft I would first contact Neteller and ask them if the message is indeed from them. If that is a valid case, as I recommended before closing your accounts, opening new ones and protecting your credit cards with reissued cards will be what I have recommended to my local customer base. Hope that clears things a bit for you. Of course ultimately doing what you are comfortable with is prudent.

Cheers

Well...I have registered my cellphone, my home phone, alert came to my email. I have three Macs protected as well. It is my home phone that was compromised, screen shot attached. Does this help at all?

Hello NJF. Was the alert coming from a Norton product installed on one of your PC's? Please elaborate!! I found one really OLD CVE from CERT related to Neteller stating the reported vulnerability in 2013 was not valid. Yet another Forbes article says breeches occurred in 2009/2010 with the same attack vectors including the VPN used. I would discontinue its usage and confer with all your financial institutions to protect your assets immediately. A couple of my customers closed all their banking accounts, reopened new accounts and had new CC's issued due to a crypto incident. I recommend doing the same.

Cheers
