I've just logged on to find another device in my network ? called Thomson ? is it a tool used by Norton or had someone hacked into my network which I thought was secure ?!
Many thanks
Louise

Louise
Could be a phone as well. I had it with mine as well
Sounds like your wireless router may not have a password. I know someone in an apt complex that gets his internet free that way period, he mooches off about 3 differnt people.
Depending on your router there will be several choices like WEP and WPA. Critics will say that WEP is not as secure and that WPA is the better choice. but truthfully WEP is usually easier to set up and is really plenty secure (IMO) for residential use. Unless you have some serious hacker next door and classified info on your computer then I would just go with WEP to keep the neighbors out.
editing to add: that it is also possible that a neighbor just connected to wrong network without realizing it, they may have just not been paying enough attention when they connected it.. or if you both have default SID's like 'linksys' he might not have been able to tell which network was which..... know anyone with Thomson for a last name?
There are actually 2 version of NIS 2008. the second one sometimes gets reffered to as 2008.5 or sometimes it's reffered to as 18.5.x.x
In anycase the upgrade/update is free, just install it with your existing key. I don't know if it will provide any kind of solution for you, but people in this thread are saying to upgrade and I thought I should point out the differnce. You can get the latest download at http://www.symantec.com/newnis
usually just downloading and installing on top of your current install works fine, but if you have trouble there is always the removal tool at http://www.symantec.com/symnrt
You didn't recently have a new cable settop box installed, did you?
When I had Verizon FiOS installed, I suddenly had four network devices ... one for each of my settop boxes.
My devices are identified as Motorola.
