Network access via VPN

New laptop. Running Windows 7 Pro, Norton 360 ver 5. Registered on the domain of our Windows SBS server. I'm trying to access a network location remotely via a PPTP VPN connection (which works with other computers). I am allowed to log onto our VPN, but not connect to the Windows network. It connects fine if I turn off the Norton firewall.

What settings to I need to change/add/

TIA.

From the laptop, open the main screen for Norton 360.

Click "Tasks" then on the bottom left click "Network Security Map".

On the top, click one time on the server then down below, click the "edit" where it says "Trust level".

You want that set to either shared or full trust,  you will also see on box on that screen to check to exclude it from IPS scans.

If the server has a fixed Ip address you can check that box to increase the file transfer speed.

There is also a setting under AV scans you'll want to set to "exclude network scans",  you don't want the laptop trying to scan the server.
