Network computers visible in Norton network map but not in my network places...HELP!

Hi

 

As the title says I cant connect my Norton computer to the other computers on my network. The others either have Kaspersky or no antivirus software on them and they can all 'see' each other. The Norton computer can see the others on the network map but I cant get at them or their files or their printers...what the likely problem/solution please?

btw all the computers are running windows XP and Norton is a recently installed 2010 antivirus

 

If its a case of setting the other computers as trusted how do you do this exactly?? thanks

Set everything in the Network Security to "Full Trust" and that should let you see the others.

Under Settings, My Network, Network Security Map.

In Antivirus 2010? Its not there!

 

All I can see is basic security (autoprotect etc), web-browsing, e-mail and messaging sections with NAV options at the bottom...sorry!

Are you suggesting that the Norton Security map is the same as the Norton network map? I can see the devices in there but no way of setting them to trusted...

If you click on each device that is visible to you, is it accurately identified?  If so there should be a trust configuration setting in the screen that you can change from protected to full trust. If it is not accurately identified, there will be an edit link that will allow you to make changes.

 

Norton Antivirus, if that is what you have does not have a firewall.  Are the other computers able to access the Norton machine shared files?

I'm trying to find the network security map which is - supposedly - under settings in Norton antivirus 2010 but I cant see it anywhere

 

Can someone please explain this its driving me nuts thanks
