Hi,
Thank you for your response. Yes I've done all that but it doesn't fix it.

Hi L,
If you know the range of IP address of the other computer, create a general firewall rule to allow communication between the two computers. Refer to this Symantec Support Article for more information on creating a firewall rule on Norton 360 2.0.

Hello,
Thank you for your suggestion. Yes I've tried that but still no luck.
I'm simply trying to synchronise files, using the standard Windows XP Pro programme between laptop and desktop; also, via my wireless connection, print documents from my laptop using printers connected to my desktop .
All this was working fine in the earlier version of N360 and continues to work now if I disable the Firewall.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
L

If you use any wireless router for connecting desktop to laptop, try to create a general rule for the ip address of wireless router so that the connection can pass through. Kindly follow the steps from the same Symantec Support Article exactly as instructed. Better contact the Technical Support through this LINK, they will assist you further in configuring the firewall for your wireless connection.
Hi Yogesh,
Your interest and assistance is very much appreciated.
I have tried once again to follow the instructions for setting up a new firewall rule, but I get bogged down because I do not understand the procedures.
Firstly, I assume I need to set the rule for the connection both to and from other computers, right?
Next, do I set for one or for all computers?
Then, what protocol and do I set it for all communications or certain types/ports?
Then, do I need to set an event log entry?
If I try to set the rule for just one computer ie. my laptop, I get an "unable to resolve the internet address" message.
As you can tell, I'm pretty hopeless at this sort of thing. All I want is to be able to do the things I was doing before I upgraded to N360 v2.
What if I unistalled Norton, then re-installed with my wireless network running. Would it be automatically detected do you think?
Regards,
L
Hi Lancerlot,
As you said, you were unable to understand the procedure, I think the rules which you have created earlier may be incorrect. Here are the exact instructions, please try this:
1. Start Norton 360.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Firewall Protection.
4. On the General Rules tab, click Add.
5. Click Permit, and then click Next.
6. Click Connections to and from other computers, and then click Next.
7. Click Only the computers listed below and then click Add.
8. Type the IP address of your desktop computer or IP address of your wireless router into the box, and then click OK.
9. Click Next.
10. Click All Types of communication(all ports, local and remote) and then click Next.
11. Click Next.
12. Type the description of the network into the box, and then click Next.
13. Click Finish.
13. Select the firewall rule for the network in the list and click Move Up until the rule is listed at the top of the list.
14. Click Apply and then click Close.
You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton 360 with your wireless connection enabled.

Hi Yogesh,
I have done what you suggested and wonders of wonders - it seems to have worked!
I am very grateful to you for sorting this out for me. A million thankyous.
Kindest regards,
L.
Folks,
We just encountered the same issue but with version 3.
It doesn't have the same steps to allow other computers on the network (by an IP address range).
1) I opened the program
2) went to Settings
3) went to Firewall
4) General tabl
5) No option t ADD, but many, many other options.
I want to allow computers on our network, 192.168.47.x (addresses up to x.x.x.20?)
